Dear Mum, for Christmas I would like... Lasonic i931 iPod Boombox

Regular readers of this blog will know I'm partial to a bit of retro styling. The last place you'd expect to find something worthwile along these lines would be in the 'Reader Offers' section of a national newspaper. The Guardian does things differently, however.

There have been a number of items I've come across lately modelled on the humble audio cassette. The Lasonic i931 iPod Boombox goes a step further, however, in putting an iPod in the cassette deck of a classic 1980s boombox.

As I say, this was brought to my attention in a Guardian Reader Offers ad in the past weekend's Guide. In was so excited I ran out of the toilet to show my girlfriend.

At £209 it's a bit pricey to get from The Guardian, but I have found it on Overstock.com for the distinctly more reasonable price of £157.87. For which price I could potentially be as cool as this guy.
