Sneaks Du Jour - Even More Barneys x Converse

The final instalment of the Barneys x Converse Perforated Leather Chuck Taylors. As a reminder, here are the others.

I found out about these from SLAMXHYPE

Who found out about it from Complex.

Sneaks Du Jour - Even More Alexander McQueen by Puma

If you got a proper designer in to sort you out some trainers, you'd be a bit disappointed if he came up with a pair of plain white velcro hi-tops, wouldn't you?

Having said that, Alexander McQueen for Puma's AMQ Spine Mid Velcro is actually a very smart little sneaker.

All the Alexander McQueen Puma Black Label stuff is from Sneaker Freaker.

Sneaks Du Jour - Chuck Taylor Skate

I love Converse, but they can be a bit unsupportive. If you like the look but have a low arch or something similar, these Chuck Taylor Skates have a thicker insole as they're designed for boarders.

I'm not a big fan of skateboarding sneakers generally, but these retain the feel of your common or garden cons.

Available from Converse Skateboarding from the New Year, for $55 or so.

Sneaks Du Jour - Adidas Forum Hi Double Goose

If you want to keep your feet warm and funky, what better way than to have a pair of goose down Adidas Forums?

Apparently inspired by the material favoured on the leather jackets of the original rap stars of the 1980s, and available from Adidas Originals for around $150.

Sneaks Du Jour - More Barneys x Converse

These are, as Sam Sparro would say, Black and Gold. Actually, anyone would say that, because they are. Sam Sparro would sing a shit song about them though.

Available from Barneys from February.

Sneaks Du Jour - More Alexander McQueen by Puma

A more regular sneaker from Alexander McQueen for Puma than the AMQ Spine Luxe is the AMQ In Bounds Mid.

That's a shark's tooth on the side, and a little bid of Alexander McQueen branding for your troubles.

Sneaks Du Jour - Even More Adidas SL 72 Vintage

Last and least of the Adidas SL 72 Vintage Collection, the red effort. Next Friday will not be an Adidas SL 72 Vintage Collection day. Unless they reveal more colours.

Sneaks du Jour - Adidas Originals Training P.T. 70s

I was just having a browse on the JD Sports website when I found these, a JD exclusive of the Adidas Originals Training P.T 70s.

I'm not 100% sure about the sole, but I like the colours. I also still find it amazing that these were genuine performance trainers back in the day. Apart from anything else, they'd get ruined!

Grab these from JD for £59.99

Sneaks du Jour - Adidas ZX 90s Run

Love these. Very clean, very sporty.

I nicked these from Sneaker Freaker

Sneaks Du Jour - Alexander McQueen by Puma

This is called the AMQ Spine Luxe. It's quite fashiony rather than being streetwear, but I like it. The sole is a bit different too.

Sneaks Du Jour - Converse One Star Hi

Yet another from the Converse Century Project. Brands should have birthdays more often.

Sneaks Du Jour - Barneys x Converse Punched Leather Chuck Taylors

Ok, so we don't have Barney's in the UK, and these aren't out until February anyway, but that doesn't stop me wanting them. Or the other colours that I'll be posting up.

They are Perforated Leather Converse Chuck Taylors, and are a Barneys exclusive. I prefer the term punched leather personally, and I'm a sucker for a good bit of punched leather.

I'll reference where I got this from when I've posted the other colours. Wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.

Sneaks Du Jour - Reebok Court Victory Pump

I never made it round to the Nike pop-up store in Shoreditch because I am the sort of person too lazy to bother to find something that interests me on my own doorstep until it's too late. A lesson learnt I think.

Anyway, Reebok have apparently launched their first pop-up store (am I the only person who envisions it being flat until you open the door? Like a pop-up book? No?) in New York, and will be selling a weekly special edition sneaker.

The first week is the NYC Court Victory Pump. It's garish but it's good. And, if you're in Manhattan, specifically on Bowery, it'll set you back around $135.

Sneaks Du Jour - More Adidas SL 72 Vintage

I already showed you the blue Adidas SL 72 Vintage this time last week. Here are the greeny turquoisey ones.

Sneaks Du Jour - Nike Dunk Hi St.Pauli

Pirates have been pretty big this year, what with the Facebook Pirate Language Craze following International Pirate Day and the whole thing in the last month or so with actual pirates doing actual piracy, stealing ships and demanding ransoms instead of making lame copies of DVDs.

With celebs like Russell Brand sporting the skull and crossbones motif and the general renaissance of all things wooden-legged and parrot-shouldered, I reckon these Nike Dunk Hi St Pauli limited edition trainers should do quite well.

St. Pauli are a German football club whose fans are remarkable in a kind of 1980s Wimbledon 'Crazy Gang' kind of way. Only more so. Hence why this is possibly the first pair of trainers to bear the name of a football/ soccer team that isn't an absolute gaudy monstrosity.

There are only 500 pairs of these worldwide, but you can pick them up for a relative steal at £89.99.

Sneaks Du Jour - Adidas Micropacer Lux

Adidas Micropacers are exactly the sort of trainer my girlfriend would look at me funny for buying, yet I've wanted a pair for a long, long time.

Whenever I happen upon some that are a bit different, however, they tend to turn out as very limited edition and consequently super pricey. Not these, however.

The Adidas Micropacer Lux still has the timer in it, in case you need to cook an egg or something, but will only set you back around $125 when it hits the streets in Spring. It's part of the Lux collection which, given my penchant for Adidas Originals stuff, is likely to feature heavily in these pages.

I only recently started to get on board with black sneakers, having previously thought they always looked like football boots/ shoes for 'special' people. I have now altered my opinion.

Sneaks Du Jour - Adidas Italia 1960

An update on the classic Adidas Italia 1960 in a very stylish white and green. The reissue is available from January, apparently.

Sneaks Du Jour - Converse Poorman Hi

Another part of the Converse Century Project, the Converse Poorman Hi is a premium leather job and will set you back just shoy of 100 Euros. Which is about £400 now isn't it?

Sunday, 23 November 2008

Sneaks Du Jour - Adidas ZX 700 I-Store

The letter 'I' from the Adidas Consortium AZX Collaboration Project, and a belter at that.

Sneaks Du Jour - MoBama Dunk 08

As if Barack Obama hadn't been pervasive enough in our lives, artist Virtual Mo created these Nike Dunks called the Mobama Dunk 08.

You can't buy these, but it doesn't stop them being good. It probably makes them better.
